Alain De Botton quotes a series of famous travelers and then compares it to his own traveling experiences, waxing poetic on topics such as “On the Exotic” and “On Anticipation.”
I wanted to read this book after getting the recommendation from the popular travel blog Nomadic Matt. Some of the ideas resonated with me, such as his love of airports for being transient places in which everyone is comfortable being alone. However, it wasn’t much of a revelation.
Another book that felt a little too old, white and British, but worth a punt if you are traveling and feeling philosophical.
